Hope springs eternal

As last year the Canna´s came through the winter unscathed. Under the shade of a spralling lavender push I was suprised to see that three pelegoniums had also survived the chill.

In the bed at the centre front of the house a Nispera tree has produced the first fruit buds and new shoots are appearing it was only planted at the end of summer and now looks robust enough to prosper. Nearby the wisteria has yet to break bud and a gardenia which was left in a pot looks like a total loss.

The ficus benjamin - varigated, which I found looks worse for wear but scrathing the bark reveals green wood so I will give it a chance.
