When, finally, there is nothing left of me but my words
Perched like birds on the taut wires
Of spirits faithful to the hymns of life,
A hammer will cry out for the extinguished light.
The day will wear mimosa wreaths.

How lovely to see peonies here. I got jealous when reading about the wild ones in Portugal on Gintoino's blog.
A friend has brought me 3 from the UK to plant and I thought this best later in the year. Any tips, Colin and Carol. I know if they take off won't see flowers during the first year
Hi Pam,
They need a big hole 12" deep and enriched with compost and feed. Peonys will not flower if crown is buried more than 2" otherwise they are pretty tough.
Thanks you two. I'm looking forward to Autumn, when everything will burgeon again and I can get down to something creative instead of this endless clearing up.
