Echinacea purple cone flower

Echinacea purpurea Magnus, purple cone flower.

The seed packet was almost empty but the few plants I got look striking. It has flowered in it’s first year but next year should be taller around 36” or 85cm – ish.

I will sow saved seed next spring and see if it comes true to type, they are dry and wind resistant and tolerate full sun or partial shade too. I like cone shaped flowers and have seen excellent examples in prairie style planting schemes, which if the conditions were right I would like to try here. The purple colouration toned well with the Blushing Suzie and I can see other useful combinations with the plants I already have.
