In late September the Cannas or Indian Shot as they are otherwise known bloomed for the second time since they were planted in mid July. At 4€ each they were 36" tall and filled a five litre pot to the point of bursting.
Cannas like a lot of water in the growing season but also prefer to keep their feet dry in winter. In a well drained but fertile soil they provide lush tropical foliage and large flowers they look particularly good with dahlias.
Next year I will try to combine them with Banana and ginger lilies.
